1Night/2Days - $860 per rider


Escape Hanmer Springs, and head to the St James Conservation Park and ride out on horseback across Peter´s Pass riding through some of the most spectacular open country, mountains and streams. The Cow Stream Natural Hot Pools is one of the many natural hidden gems in this piece of paradise which is nestled in amongst nothing but pure wilderness.

Whether it be in the summer or winter months, enjoy dipping into the crystal clear natural hot springs and absorb a moment of solitude.  

Come and experience a little bit of luxury by horseback that only nature can provide in your own personal hot springs situated in the middle of the St James Conservation Area.

Day One

This trek is suitable for all riding abilities, however the rider must be comfortable with being in the saddle for long periods of time. Minimum of two riders is required when booking this trek.

Accommodation is at Scotties Hut (DOC Hut) or in a Glamping Tent.

  • 9.00am depart St James Homestead

  • 12.30pm arrive at Scotties Hut/Glamping Site

  • Enjoy a specially prepared lunch 

  • Take a short walk to the hidden Hot Springs and enjoy relaxing and soaking in a hot spring of your choice

  • Explore the area more or relax by the campfire 

  • 6.00pm enjoy a hearty camp dinner whilst under the most spectacular canopy of stars before nestling in for a good nights sleep. 

Day Two

  • 8.00am woken by the blissful sounds of birds and nature

  • Enjoy a full cooked breakfast

  • Pack up camp area ensuring that we only leave footprints!

  • Prepare horses for departure 

  • Journey back to the St James Homestead through Peter´s Pass, appreciating the natural beauty of the High Country

  • 12-1.00pm Riders arrive back to St James Homestead


  • One set of clothes & shoes suitable for riding

  • One set of fresh clothes

  • Extra pairs of socks

  • Warm jacket 

  • Wet weather gear

  • Swimming togs & towel 

  • Sleeping bag (these can be provided at an extra charge)

  • Torch or headlamp

  • Insect repellent 

  • A fully charged phone or camera for photos.
