Customer Care
Riders must always be aware that they are riding in alpine high country and we are subject to weather change and it can snow anytime of the year. So it is advised that suitable clothing and footwear must be worn or carried when riding.
In any adventure activity, there is an element of risk involved. Risks in undertaking this activity include; falling off your horse, being trampled by a horse, kicked or bitten by a horse or colliding with any object, vehicle, horse or rider. Horse riding requires a minimum level of fitness.
The staff and management of Pukatea Horse Trekking & Adventures Ltd take all practicable steps to identify and minimise potential dangers. However, you must follow our instructions and use the safety equipment provided at all times. Photo ID will be required by those that participate in Freedom Trekking for safety purposes. Note, that we ride at the speed of the slowest rider on the ride. Adults accompanying any person under the age of 16 must ensure that the underage person follows your instructions at all times. All premises and the St James and Molesworth areas are smoke free areas.
We reserve the right to withdraw any person who in our opinion is likely to endanger themselves or others. If our guides judge that someone's behaviour may endanger themselves or others while out on the trek, this person may be asked to dismount at any stage, with no refund offered. We also reserve the right to cancel the trek if we become concerned for any reason for your safety or that of any other person.

Cancellation Policy
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance, however your deposit is non-refundable or can be used at a later date for another trek for any of the one day Homestead, Edwards Trail and Freedom Treks.
Multi day treks or Freedom Treks that are more than two days will require at least 7 days notice of cancellation from the date of your booking, however your deposit is non-refundable or can be transfered to a trek at a later date.
Pukatea Horse Trails & Adventures Ltd. has had to employ this cancellation policy due to previous rider’s cancellations causing the cancellation of an entire trail. Once we are under the required number of riders for each trail, the trail becomes unviable. If a trail is cancelled, we still have to pay other contractors regardless. Therefore, these outgoings need to be covered.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before your horse trek start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded. Time changes to booked horse treks cannot be made less than 24 hours before the booked start time (New Zealand local time).
This experience requires good weather therefore, If it is cancelled due to poor weather, you will be offered a different date or a full refund.
Any cancelled bookings or full refunds will not be reimbursed the administration fee
